Numerous commercial power supplies have been tested:

                            booster converter
Buck/Boost converter boosts single LiPo 3.7v or single LiFePo 3.2 volts to 5.2 volts
to power Raspberry Pi model 3B.

Works well for this purpose but single cell will not run the unit for more than a couple of hours.

single lipo usb charger
USB-powered charger for single LiPo 3.7v. This charges one in about 3.5 hours.
It will also charge 2 LiPo (3.7v 2.6Ah) cells connected in parallel in about the same amount of time.

buck boost
Buck/Boost converter sets the Weather Station internal voltage to 5.2 volts for the Raspberry Pi model 3B.
The first prototype used a battery box consisting of 2 LiPo cells (18650) in series to give an output of 7.4v.
This is then reduced to 5.2 volts. Fitted into the battery box is a charging pcb that will charge this arrangement (7.4v)
from a standard USB port. This runs the weather station for 3 hours continuous.
This unit is also used to regulate the solar panel output to 12 volts or 5.2 volts.
