Distilling
The
initial process proposed for obtaining water from the mineral, was to
heat the mineral, capture the resultant steam, and then condense it back
into liquid water. The basic process of distilling.
When initial testing was carried out using a Peltier device, distilling
was proposed as the ultimate overall result. It was found that the
initial heating of the test material resulted in the solid being
converted to a liquid. The next step was to heat this liquid until it
became steam. This steam was then collected on a cool surface which
would change it back to a liquid.
It was soon realised that the INITIAL heating of the material converted
the solid directly into a liquid. It was then determined that any
further processing was unnecessary! Water had been extracted in one
step!
Distilling has been abandoned at this point. It may be necessary to
reinvestigate at a later date when more pronounced purification is
required.
